There are many apps we may not use regularly for our day-to-day needs on our smartphones. But sometimes, when we have some free time out of our worktime—such as waiting at an airport for a delayed flight, waiting for an as usual delayed train, waiting for an intentionally late girlfriend, being physically present in an out-of-scope discussion, etc.—these handy apps can kill time and save you from being killed by boring moments.
चुरल are not going to talk about games, which are the easiest way to kill time, but we are going to talk about killing time smartly. There is a lot on the Play Store other than just making cute birds angry or jumping on trains here and there.
Here is my selection:
1) Quizup
Along with killing time, gain some knowledge by playing random quiz games on this app. There are many interesting categories to select from. Select as per your today's mood and test your knowledge on the subject along with virtually playing a quiz with an unknown opponent.
You will need to log in with your Google or Facebook account. After login, select your area of interest or expertise.
There are 1000+ topics available to choose from. Each game has 7 rounds of questions with multiple options and a time limit for each answer. You win or lose in this game, but your knowledge will surely be enhanced.
2) Quora
Get answers to all your stupid questions which you thought not to ask anyone as people may laugh at the stupidity of the question. But as someone correctly told, questions cannot be stupid, but answers can be.
Know various possible answers to such idiot and intelligent questions on this platform. You can set the categories of questions also as per your interest and curiosity. Get to know the inside story of many current events going on in the world.

3) TED
We all love smart presentations. TED is the collection of many such presentations available on its platform for free.
In your free time, it's a good idea to watch these high-tech, top-notch presentations by expert speakers around the world.
There are many presentations available on various topics varying from future technologies to social awareness and education. High-definition videos are good to watch and learn. Just grab an earphone and enjoy the presentation on your choice of subject. If you are a data-saver guy, audio versions are also available for the same presentations.
So enjoy your free time with some power-packed presentations.
4) X Construction
Though it is a game, it's not only a game but a mirror of basic physics and mechanics.
Along with entertaining your soul, train your brain also. You can learn some basic mechanisms of pivoting, suspension, and tension of a bridge and can appreciate some of the marvellous engineered bridges existing in India and the world. With given limited resources in the game at each stage, make a sustainable bridge and test its correctness by passing a train across it.
Stages become difficult as you progress in the app. This is really addictive.
It's fun to play and good to learn.
5) Google Map
You may think that this is placed wrongly in this list, but my personal selection goes to this app also. We all are aware of what we do with this app daily or very frequently over a day.
Finding the nearest store, petrol station, finding directions to a particular place, or knowing your present location—we use this app very frequently.
लेकिन while having nothing else to do, this app can be turned into a knowledge database as well.
Just zoom in and zoom out on some really unknown place, city, or country you have never been to. Find out new places in those cities. Even I have made some of my travel plans in this manner only.
Also, it's fun to explore new roads, routes, and new places sometimes.
I have given a hint on how to use Map in a different way; try your own imagination and explore the world in a new way.
6) Clone Camera
By seeing the above image, you must have gotten the clue about what we are going to talk about. This is a really interesting app.
Clone a person and see the fantastic image output.
You can find "objects" for your photography very easily. Waiting at a railway station or airport, you can target a playing kid and clone its movement, or watch a bird play with a flower and make a clone set of images of a lovely moment.
In your free time at home sometimes, try to clone yourself with the help of the self-timer built into the app, showing a lot of different household work done by yourself and impressing your wife when she returns home by showing your camera trick and also indicating how "busy" you were making the sweet home.
The app is pretty simple to use and guides itself through the photo-taking process. So what are you waiting for? Just give time to your hidden artist and enjoy your free time.
