Movies to watch to feel the isolation and quarantined

Isolation Movies

The world is fighting against COVID-19 very bravely. Until effective medication is invented to cure this suddenly emerged situation, world leaders have urged that the most effective tool to prevent it from spreading further is maintaining social distance and isolation.

This situation has brought most of us into self-captivation and isolation.

The humans who did not have the privilege to be at home are now "forced" to stay in one place with not much activity to do. Fast-moving life has come to a sudden halt, and day-to-day rush has slowed down.

Those who loved to be in crowds, with friends and social circles, are suddenly forced to follow "separation." And this separation might be hurting many, being away from the daily busy, energetic, and chaotic world.

However, take it the other way and try to feel differently. You would all agree that our tastes and choices vary based on our moods and situations.

For example, when we fall in love with someone, our whole world changes and we love all things around the world. We love all those small things which were already around us for years, but we see more beauty in all of them. We love to watch romantic movies.

Opposite to that, when we get hurt or broken down in situations, all these things which were beautiful a few days ago seem to curse us even more. Nothing in this world gives us joy, and the world seems like a deep dark well.

Similarly, the true value and joy of anything comes when we are in that mood. Now let’s talk about movies with a mood that perfectly matches the current situation of humankind.

There are many movies out there on the theme of isolation, being away from all, and being with self. But the true feel of these movies can be experienced now in this situation, when we are also in a kind of trapped situation—trapped at our homes, trapped with limited social networking, trapped in our own thoughts. This is the chance to enjoy and feel such movie themes and a time for self-discovery.

I present here some of such movies which I have watched:

1) Buried

Buried

This single-character thriller movie will keep you trapped in its visuals, theme, and tightly progressing story. You are trapped at home, and that too with your loved ones around, but think of yourselves if you were in any such situation where no one else could enter and you would never see anyone again shortly...

Watch the movie to feel what being truly trapped feels like.

2) Cast Away

Cast Away

Many of us are familiar with this movie, where Tom Hanks has shown what isolation can bring to us in terms of physical and mental health. The superb performance and body transformation by the actor give you the real feel of being stranded.

3) Trapped

Trapped

This Indian flick out of mainstream cinema has given us strong content for cinema lovers. We are talking about being in a lockdown situation at our homes; this movie is a real lockdown at one's own house. Rajkummar Rao has shown a commendable performance in this trapped thriller.

4) The Platform

The Platform

I found this movie recently while searching for good content to watch in this situation, and I found this compelling flick which matches the present situation in a quite similar way. For many of you, this may be an unpleasant experience, but in reality, it may be faced by humankind someday in the future if such situations keep emerging.

5) All is Lost

All is Lost

You might be trapped at your places right now, but at least you are able to see other people and talk to others for a mood change. But think of someone who is lost somewhere in between the vast ocean without anyone else—no one to listen to, no one to help. How would you survive and remain stable mentally in such a situation? Watch this underrated gem to feel the pain.

6) 127 Hours

127 Hours

Outdoor adventures can sometimes cost you a lot, but they also teach lessons of life. This engaging thriller will make you think positively about self-captivation. Watch the movie to feel what a real character would have felt in reality, as this is based on a true story.

7) The Shallows

The Shallows

Being captivated for your safety is still a good thing rather than being captivated on a small rock in the middle of a water body where sharks are awaiting for you to make a mistake and come out. So is the case with the Coronavirus; your one wrong step out of your place can cost you a life.

8) Gravity

Gravity

Our family and our loved ones are our whole universe. But what about the feeling when you are left alone in the open universe? This very popular movie can once again be watched in this situation to have a real feel of the movie for which it was made.

9) Wall-E (the first half)

Wall-E

This lovely, innocent animation movie will surely make you feel damp in the corners of your eyes. The lifeless machine will make you feel much better in your present situation once you see and feel the loneliness of the main character.

10) Yaadein (Sunil Dutt)

Yaadein

This is an old movie of Indian cinema featuring only a single character (played by Sunil Dutt). This was a brave attempt by Sunil Dutt in experimental film long ago in the 1960s. Today, I find this even more relevant to our present (and perhaps near future) situation. So please love your present time and give value to your loved ones, because you may not get a second chance in this mortal world out there.

A few that must be mentioned are Flipped, Locke, and The Martian.

These are just a few of these movies, and you can find many more to indulge in during your present situation, gain some strength to fight your isolation more effectively, and also help the world fight out this unwanted situation.

Stay isolated, peep inside yourself, and be safe.
